Today 19 civil-society organizations protested in front of the embassy of Uzbekistan in Seoul Korea, to demand justice for Elena Urlaeva and human rights defenders in Uzbekistan.
On May 31, police in Uzbekistan arrested and tortured Elena Urlaeva, after she
photographed and interviewed forced laborers in the cotton fields.
The protesters delivered a letter to the embassy and demanded the government of Uzbekistan investigate and bring to justice the persons responsible for the abusive treatment of Ms. Urlaeva permit individuals and organizations to investigate and report on human rights concerns without fear of retaliation.
